Principal's Message
Hello all,
My name is Mr. Wilson, and I am very excited to become the principal at Springfield Local Intermediate School. This will be my 23rd full year in education in various roles and multiple districts. I began my career in Arkansas in January of 2001 as a 4th grade teacher and quickly moved to a middle school the following year. Following that, my wife (Ginger) and I moved back to Ohio in 2002, where I was a teacher of middle school math and then computers for a total of 10 years here in Ohio. I then went into school administration as an assistant principal of three different schools over nine years. Most recently I was the principal of highly rated elementary school in the Cleveland area for two years. That brings me to Springfield Local. After being in middle schools for 20 years and then being out of them the past two, I realized that the middle school aged students is where my heart is and I can make the biggest difference.
I currently reside in Stow, OH, with my wife of 24 years and 2 daughters (Ashlyn 15 and Emersyn 12); as well as our 2 dogs (Daisy and Luna). Both of my daughters are heavily involved in sports and we spend many weekends traveling to various tournaments.
I am a firm believer that in general students get out of a school, what they put into it (as long as the opportunities are available). With that being said, I encourage each student to get involved as much as possible in the various activities here at SLIS. Research has shown that students who participate in extracurricular activities tend to be more successful in their adult life.
I look forward to meeting everyone and beginning the school year.
Yours in education,
Jason Wilson
